This strategy sustains the corporationââ¬â¢s competitive advantage in the industry. It also requires that the corporation to become a learning organization that is dynamic and ready to acquire knowledge and use it to its advantage. It also teaches the firms how to solve problems systematically and make them expert in their field of action. 9. Globalization Companies are doing business all over the globe and serve different markets regardless of countries borders. It has affected the way business is done today. This strategy is important for companies that want to stay competitive. It gives opportunities for new markets and economic growth, and also open doors for a cultural learning experience that is an asset for any firm that wishes to become a learning organization. 10. Social Responsibilities of Strategic Decision makers A corporation has not only economic, legal responsibilities but also responsibilities toward society. If those obligations which are both ethicalà and discretionary are not fulfilled it will affect the corporation in the long run. Ethical or discretionary duties of today can become laws of tomorrow. Theâ⬠Hard Choicesâ⬠essay had a better outline and gave a more interesting dead than ââ¬Å"Initiation into Adulthoodâ⬠ââ¬Å"Initiation into Adulthoodâ⬠is a very basic essay and gave the impression that is was written by a less experienced writer. I felt the paper was boring and did not keep my attention while reading each short story. The most noticeable mistake was that the paper did a plot summary for each story and never provided a conclusion or a position in any of the stories. The checklist says to use present tense verbs and this story used mostly past tense. The ââ¬Å"Hard Choicesâ⬠essay gives an analysis of each short story and provides direct quotes from the short stories. ââ¬Å"Initiation into Adulthoodâ⬠did not do a imperative analysis of the short stories. There were no literary terms used in this essay and there were no works cited. The writer did not list the authors names in the essay to give credit for their work. This essay was b oring and did not really give the viewer cohesive account of what the writer was trying to convey. Hard Choicesâ⬠on the other end was a good read! It was exciting it kept my attention and made me want to continue to read more. This essay followed most of the literary rules of writing, Although, I found the plot summaries for this essay to be boring as well. I really liked reading the comparative analysis ND the writer's position for each of the short stories. The writer gave us their view of why they felt each character made the decisions that were made for each story from their point of view.Unlike ââ¬Å"Initiation into Adulthoodâ⬠the writer for ââ¬Å"Hard Choicesâ⬠uses present tense verbs when writing about the short stories. The writer used the necessary resources to support their view of the stories which made the writer seem reliable. The conclusion for this essay was dead on and summarizes the short stories completely and was cohesive with the rest of the e ssay. Am not really into literature and I don't think I am a very good writer. Hopefully, that will change after this semester.I think something that would make both essays easier to read would be eliminating the plot summaries. Like novels and in most movies the reader/viewer does not want to have the plot given to them in the beginning. I think both essays would be a better read if their plots were a buildup and the reader was given the opportunity to read and draw their own conclusion.

Masculinity in the Russian Mafia - 1677 Words
Eastern Promises challenges the view of hegemonic masculinity as a a static, unified concept. By analyzing the behaviors of members of the Russian mafia, vory y zakone (thieves in law), particularly of Kirill and Nikolai, this paper will illustrate how masculinities are constructed, performed and reaffirmed in the context of the Russian mafia vory y zakone. The paper will begin by describing the main tends of masculinities theory, proposing that vory y zakone are creating oppositional masculinity. Keeping this context in mind, it will be illustrated how men in vory y zakone are constructing and performing masculinity through degradation of women more specifically sexual and verbal abuse, through the use of violence andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This can also be seen in the sex position that Nikolai choses. The sex position known as doggy style is often seen as symbolically impersonal and demeaning, as the position involves the women to be on her knees while the men takes full c harge with little possibility for eye contact. Furthermore, Nikolai shows no sign of affection nor engages in conversation with the girl in Kirillââ¬â¢s presence. Kirill watching Nikoai have sex with the girl illustrates how degradation of women serves as performance of reaffirming masculinity for other men. Gang rape serves as a way for men enact masculinity and power in relation to women but also to other men (Bourgois 1996, pg. 423). One particular reference to gang rape is when Kirill was expected to rape Anna, the author of the diary. When he could not rape her, his father Siymon raped her in front of Kirill, thus displaying and reaffirming his masculinity to his son, who failed to do so. Masculinity can also be created through verbal degradation of women. Kirill and Nikoai constantly degrade women verbally during their conversations, making comments such as that women should be tamed like a horse and referring to women as ââ¬Å"bitchesâ⬠. They therefore imply the su bordinate status of women and imply that they need to be controlled.
